GenderInSITE at Gender Summit 9 - Europe

On 8-9 November, Gender Summit 9 - Europe will convene in Brussels, Belgium, and GenderInSITE is happy to be participating with a session on  'Connecting gender, science, and sustainable development.' This session will take place on day 2 of the conference, 9 November, from 15:30 - 17:00 in the Terra room at the BEL conference center.

The Gender Summits are a series of conferences held worldwide with the mission of generating dialogue and identify important messages for policymakers on the topic of engendering gender equality through and in scientific research. They bring together scientists, policymakers and other stakeholders to discuss the gender dimensions of various aspects of research, such as the use of metrics to measure scientific excellence, gender bias over the course of career development, and unequal representation of genders as subjects of scientific research.

Gender Summit 9 - Europe will focus on the subject of 'Gender-based research, innovation and development for sustainable economies and societal wellbeing.' It will commence with two plenary sessions on the morning of 8 November at the European Parliament, and continue at BEL Brussels over the following two days.

The GenderInSITE session on  'Connecting gender, science, and sustainable development' will be chaired by GenderInSITE Director Alice Abreu, and feature panellists:

The session will discuss "the importance of connecting science, gender and development issues in global and/or international policy agendas. The speakers will report on their experience of working with science policy at different levels and regions and bringing a gender perspective into their work."
