A sustainable development goal gender index to track progress for girls and women and to measure gender equality across the issues covered in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was launched earlier this week in New York.

The index aims to help women across sectors measure progress on the gender equality aspects of the SDGs and to use data, stories and evidence to hold policymakers accountable in their respective countries. The SDG gender index aims to capture as many gender issues as possible. The index was released by ‘Equal Measures 2030’, a global partnership of nine civil society and private sector organisations.
