GenderInSITE (GIS) was conceptualized as a programmatic initiative in 2010 to promote awareness amongst decision-makers that science, innovation, technology and engineering (SITE) for development policy and programs will be more effective, equitable and sustainable when a ‘gender lens’ is applied. This impact report has been produced at the conclusion of the SIDA funded activities.

This project investigates the gender gap in STEM disciplines from different angles, globally and across disciplines. The report includes: i) the results of a global survey of over 32,000 scientists; (ii) an investigation of the effect of gender in millions of scientific publications; and (iii) a compilation of best-practice initiatives that address the gender gap in STEM.
