“Pathways to Success” at the Global Research Council pre-meeting events – São Paolo 2019

GenderInSITE Director 2015-2017, Professor Alice Abreu, presented GenderInSITE’s latest report, Pathways to Success: Bringing a Gender Lens to the Scientific Leadership of Global Challenges at two pre-meeting events of the Global Research Council in São Paolo.

Professor Abreu presented Pathways to Success at the Global Research Council’s Gender Working Group event, Global Research Council Dialogue: Equality, Excellence and Impact in the Research System, 1 May 2019. The presentation of the report was received with great interest and was followed by a lengthy discussion, which is a promising sign of the interest of national councils in the theme. In addition to the oral presentation, attendees were provided with copies of the full report, as well as a short, targeted policy brief.

Professor Abreu was also invited to contribute to discussions on the subject of How can research accelerate progress towards the 2030 agenda: What is the role of research funders? on 30 April 2019, along with UK Research and Innovation, Research Council Norway, Japan Science and Technology Agency, National Research Foundation South Africa, International Science Council and FAPESP. Gender equality is a key pillar of the 2030 agenda, and GenderInSITE continues to play an important role in ensuring that a gender lens is applied in these vital discussions.
